CAMPUS® NEWS:

CAMPUS Version 5.2 Released

The CAMPUS consortium announced today that the leading international plastics database CAMPUS is available in a new version 5.2.

The new version has become necessary, because the data content of CAMPUS was extended after consulting with VDA (Association of the Automotive Industry).

A VDA workgroup has developed a new directive "Data for Selection of Thermoplastic Materials used in Interior, Exterior and Engine Compartment".
This paper presents a list of preferred material properties and standards for material selection in the automotive industry. For most application areas existing CAMPUS properties could be adopted. In some cases additional properties had to be introduced, like resistance to light, extended chemical resistance information and emission behaviour.

The new properties have been reconciled between VDA and the CAMPUS group and new, uniform standards were agreed on. Accordingly CAMPUS was extended by these new material properties with the new version. The new software allows for each CAMPUS grade to print the complete official VDA datasheet.

The new version is already available, however, according to experience, the CAMPUS participants will need several months to fill in the new properties.

Please note that for the time being only English, German and Chinese system language versions are available. Other system languages, from version 5.1, will be lost with an update. Producer texts are still available in all languages provided by the individual suppliers. It is expected that during 2010 translation of all other languages will be completed and CAMPUS will again be available in 8 languages (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean).

As it was in the past, CAMPUS is absolutely free.
